Hi there! smile.gif

I'm looking at buying a new PC system, and am just wondering if anyone here has any idea about software compatibility, or a good site that I can use. I mainly use my PC for audio production & recording and use Cubase SX version 1.3. Does anyone know if it is compatible with Vista? Or if not, which version of Cubase is compatible. Also if anyone knows if my M-Audio MobilePre sound card will work with Vista too?

Any help would be much appreciated. wink.gif

most applications will work , but to be sure you can download the vista upgrade advicer which scans your old computer for conflicts ect , ok you want a new computer but if the required applications will not work it will be listed in the results box ,you also have as with xp the option to run programmes under an old system, the small scanning app is on the microsoft site smile.gif

I strongly recommend you to wait upgrading for Vista, especially when you use professional audio hardware. At least setup a test machine first and fully try it. For my self I did so, and now I know - no Vista migration for me yet.

Vista have huge and controversal changes to audio drivers architectrure. For instance, support for DirectSound hardware acceleration have been removed (so all old apps that used DS to access your soundboard will revert to software-only emulation).

Also there is many other issues that still unresolved, so if you dont need extra guinea pig work - dont upgrade yet smile.gif

Thanks very much, thats useful info. I have a friend who is using Steinberg Nuendo on Vista & seems to think it's great, but I am a bit wary as replacing my sound card & cubase version would add several hundred quid to my upgrade costs. I think I'll wait a bit longer & see how things develop.
