I just payed £350 for one of these leopard-books in England.
Now they're $350 in America. Almost half the price that I payed, nearly.

You lucky guys.

You can buy a 'refurb' Advent 4211 from PC World online for £200. I NEVER buy from them - until last week when I got mine biggrin.gif

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw...d=Shop%20Laptop

It seemed to be in mint condition and did have an extra 1gb of RAM in the expansion slot - though it was DOA.

It was an old link. The U100 is down to $309 now at Worst Buy.

What is the actual difference between the U100 and the U120?? Specs look the same, but U120 is $40 more, and has a higher model number wink.gif

You you would reccomend a Re-fub from PC World ?? I'm thinking about getting the Advent 4213

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw...gory_oid=-28487

it is around 70 GBP Cheaper as a re-furb. But I was wondering on the Quality, and what happen's if it breaks. We all know PC World can be "funny" at the best of times

The 4211 I got was in perfect condition. However there was no manufactures box or a hard copy of the manual. Neither was a problem to me - the box is no use to me and I did not need a manual b/c I knew my first job was to format and put OS X on it.

The only sign it had ever been used was a *very* small amount of dust on the processor fan when I opened it up to upgrade the ram. Blasted it out with some canned air.

I'm no fan of PC World but this was a bargain - and don't forget you get a full 12 month warranty from them even on refurb units.

For me it has been a good experience - they evend delivered only 2 days after the order and a zero cost.
