You can download McAfee 30 day trial at:
http://download.cnet.com/McAfee-Internet-S...4-10581371.html
I think you can register and pay for the program after trying it. However, there are several free anti-malware programs available from Lavasoft, Adaware, Zone Alarm and Spybot.
The choice is yours.

I would also recommend checking out the trial version. It's free and you can have look if you like the software and get along with it. I am using Kaspersky and it works fine for me. Additionally, I have Zone Alarm and a few spyware and malware programs that I run regularly to keep my netbook as clean as possible. Didn't get a virus so far, so I think the software works.

Simply install 30-day trail of what ever version of McAfee then if it asks for the serial during the installation type the serial of the one you purchased if they don't ask you do it when your trail ends or if possible click enter serial on one of the menu's not sure what menu because im not a McAfee user, but still all trails either ask you in the installation, after installation, end of the trail or a shiny button that is waiting to be clicked
