I'm wondering which of these is likely to have the best compatibility with an OS X install, preferably Tiger for the smaller footprint, but maybe Leopard will be more compatible.

The Aspire One is only AUD$400 after a cashback, compared to $600-$700 for the MSI and 9-10" eee, in Australia...

But Paul's guide to the Wind sounds like that was a highly successful install, but it would be nice to get the headphone/mic working in the future (maybe even the default wifi) and not sure which is the best choice...

Look forward to comments smile.gif

Cheers!

Hey and Welcome,

I guess it would be an ideal topic for someone to do a comparison on.

From first inspection the Aspire has 512MB RAM, whereas the others have 1GB. It also has an 8.9" screen and not 10".
The medion akoya has different wifi to the MSI Wind and Advent 4211, but no bluetooth.

The EEE looks good, but was not available when I was looking for a netbook, the same with the upcoming Dell netbook too.

The Aspire one looks like it has potential... MSI is probably *best* atm...

Device(s): MSI Wind U100

I'm new to netbooks. I bought a MSI Wind U100 recently after some research showed that it was a good choice for a Mac OS X installation. Using the information from www.msiwind.net and some searching on Google I had OS X installed as part of a dual boot arrangement with XP in less than a day with ethernet and wireless card working as well as the webcam, Bluetooth, trackpad, sound card and the headphone jack. I don't have any experience with other netbook brands and they may be a better OS X platform but I'm very satisfied with the Wind.
My main advice is to have all the information and the programs and drivers you will need downloaded before you start installing OS X so the procedure will go smoothly.
